Boat Description

Greenough 21: More Range, More Room, the Same Proven Hull

1. General Information

The Greenough 21 is a versatile 6.40 m custom powerboat from Anderson Custom Boats, created when owners of the successful Greenough 17 asked for a larger version of George Greenough's acclaimed hull. Stretched in length and widened to a 2.49 m beam, it offers a bigger, steadier platform while staying lightweight and economical to run. The result is a dependable, comfortable and highly adaptable boat with more payload, more range and more room for longer trips. Offered as a pilothouse or centre console, it is equally at home as a commercial work boat, a dedicated fishing platform or a family boat for day trips and simple overnight cruising, with sleeping space for two to three people and fuel capacity of roughly 379 to 454 L, depending on the build.

2. Construction and Design

The Greenough 21 keeps the defining tri-hull of its smaller sibling: a modified-vee bottom with forward chines and a W-shaped stern, shaped for efficient planing and the ability to hold speed in both head seas and following seas. Designed with challenging West Coast waters in mind, it delivers a confident, predictable ride. Each hull is hand-built using hand-laid, vacuum-bagged, foam-cored fibreglass, giving a strong, stiff and buoyant structure at a dry weight of around 1,814 kg. Decks are hand-constructed in wood over fibreglass with non-skid surfacing, while the pilothouse and centre console are moulded in foam-cored fibreglass. Because every boat is built to order, owners can customise equipment and layout to suit their work or leisure needs, and the shallow 0.30 m hull draft adds welcome versatility in coastal waters.

3. Key Features

Enlarged Greenough tri-hull: The proven modified-vee, forward-chine and W-stern bottom gains length and beam for more stability, payload and comfort.

Wide choice of power: Single or twin outboards, gas or diesel sterndrive, or a straight-shaft diesel inboard can be specified.

Extended range: Fuel capacity of roughly 379 to 454 L supports longer passages and full days offshore.

Pilothouse or centre console: Moulded foam-cored fibreglass superstructures provide either weather protection or open, all-round fishing access.

Commercial-grade build: Hand-laid, vacuum-bagged foam-cored construction has proven itself in both commercial and recreational service.

4. Summary

The Greenough 21 is built for owners who need a capable, economical and adaptable boat that can work hard and still welcome the family aboard. It suits commercial operators, serious anglers and coastal cruisers looking for more range, payload and comfort than a compact skiff can offer, without giving up efficiency. With its proven Greenough tri-hull, hand-built foam-cored fibreglass construction and a broad choice of power and layouts, this custom pilothouse and centre console boat appeals to buyers who want a seaworthy, long-lasting vessel tailored to their own priorities.
