Boat Description
Aquastar 80: Exploration in Grand Style
1. General Information
The Aquastar 80 is a majestic, long-range flybridge motor yacht built in Guernsey for owners who want to explore the world's oceans in comfort. Measuring about 24.4 m with a generous 6.25 m beam and a modest 1.68 m draft, it carries more than 2,000 gallons of fuel, 500 gallons of fresh water and a watermaker, making it equally at home in Scandinavia, the Greek Islands, the Great Lakes or the Caribbean. Twin Caterpillar 3406E diesels of 811 hp provide reliable, economical power.
Four cabins sleep eight: a full-width owner's suite with king-size bed and bath, a forward VIP with en-suite, a starboard aft cabin and a midship twin, with four heads and a laundry room. A leather-furnished saloon with wet bar, a dining area, a gourmet galley with dishwasher, a pilot house with dual side doors and a large flybridge with barbecue complete the picture.
2. Construction and Design
The GRP hull is built to Lloyd's Register recommendations with isophthalic gelcoat, woven reinforcement and balsa-cored topsides, and divided by five watertight bulkheads. A keel below the propellers protects the running gear and aids directional stability, while the transom is shaped for fuel savings, and a walk-in engine room with watertight door makes maintenance easy.
Ken Freivokh designed the interior, with cherry or teak joinery, cedar-lined lockers, Corian worktops and individual climate control throughout. Bow and stern thrusters, twin windlasses, a hydraulic passerelle and a hydraulic bathing platform with tender garage make it practical to run with a small crew.
3. Key Features
True long range: Over 2,000 gallons of fuel and a 600-gallon-per-day watermaker.
Four-cabin layout: Owner's suite, VIP and two guest cabins with four heads.
Five watertight bulkheads: Commercial-grade compartmentation for safety offshore.
Tender garage: Hydraulic bathing platform with tender stowed in the transom.
Walk-in engine room: Easy engine checks and maintenance without disturbing the saloon.
4. Summary
The Aquastar 80 is aimed at experienced owners planning extended, ocean-going cruising with family and guests. It suits buyers who want a robust, hand-built yacht with exceptional range, four cabins and a refined Ken Freivokh interior, while remaining manageable by a small crew.
