Boat Description
Aquila 42 Coupe: Compact Powercat, Uncompromising Spirit
1. General Information
The Aquila 42 Coupe brings the brand's sport-meets-yacht philosophy to a more compact, agile package. Launched at the 2025 Miami International Boat Show alongside the larger 46 Coupe, this 13.06 m power catamaran (12.88 m with inboards) uses a generous 4.85 m beam to deliver remarkable space for its length, carrying up to 29 passengers in sheltered waters. It is ideal for owners who want spirited day cruising with the comfort to stay aboard for the weekend.
The single-level layout runs seamlessly from cockpit to salon, where an L-shaped settee surrounds a hi-lo table that converts into an extra sleeping area. The galley offers Corian worktops, a 130 L fridge-freezer and a microwave, while two private double cabins, one per hull, each have an en-suite head with a separate walk-in shower. A forward bow lounge, an aft sun lounger and 1,552 L of fuel complete a boat that is as comfortable at anchor as on longer coastal passages.
2. Construction and Design
The 42 Coupe is resin-infused in vinylester throughout the hull, deck, bulkheads and reinforcement, with load-optimised PVC cores, an NPG gelcoat and no plywood in structural areas or below the waterline. Watertight bulkheads fore and aft, double-stepped hulls and the standard carbon fibre Aquila Hydro Glide® semi-foiling system combine to deliver a smooth, efficient ride with confident offshore handling.
Large tempered glass windows provide 360-degree views, while hull-side windows with opening portlights bring natural light into both cabins. Laminate cabinetry with solid wood capping, upholstered ceilings with LED accent lighting, memory-foam mattresses and wear-resistant synthetic flooring keep the interior bright, modern and easy to maintain. An optional electric opening sunroof adds open-air freedom on fine days.
3. Key Features
Hydro Glide® semi-foiling: The carbon fibre foil lifts part of the hull clear of the water to improve comfort, performance and fuel economy.
Outboard or diesel power: Choose standard twin Mercury Verado V10 425 hp outboards with joystick control, or optional twin Volvo Penta D6 400 hp DPI sterndrives.
Twin en-suite cabins: Two equal double cabins with 194 x 153 cm memory-foam mattresses, walk-in showers and fresh-water electric toilets.
Single-level living: A three-panel sliding cockpit door and a continuous deck level create one flowing indoor–outdoor entertaining space.
Shallow draft: With the engines raised the hull draws just 0.88 m, opening up quiet bays and beaches.
4. Summary
The Aquila 42 Coupe suits couples and small families who want a sporty, easy-to-handle power catamaran with genuine overnight comfort. It appeals to buyers moving up from a monohull sports cruiser who value twin-hull stability, efficient foil-assisted cruising, private en-suite cabins and the freedom to choose between outboard and diesel inboard propulsion.
