Boat Description
Aquila 50 Sail: Award-Winning Space Under Sail
1. General Information
The Aquila 50 Sail is a generous, sociable and refined cruising catamaran that marks Aquila's entry into sailing. Launched at the 2026 Miami International Boat Show, it measures 14.97 m overall with a 7.86 m beam and offers around 170 m² of living space, more than most comparable cruising catamarans. CE Category A certification for 12 people and room for up to 30 passengers make it equally at home on ocean passages and busy charter itineraries.
Life aboard spreads across four connected zones: a fixed bow cockpit with two large sun loungers, a full flybridge with a three-seat central helm and U-shaped settee for eight, an aft cockpit with an extendable table for twelve, and a bright salon and galley with four-burner induction hob, island and household-size refrigeration. Four-, five- or six-cabin layouts sleep up to 14, and every cabin has its own entrance, en-suite head and walk-in shower, with no shared hallways.
2. Construction and Design
The hull, deck, bulkheads and reinforcements are resin-infused in vinylester with load-optimised PVC cores and no plywood in structural areas or below the waterline. NPG watertight bulkheads fore and aft, lightweight PET-cored furniture panels and bonded Perspex windows combine strength with weight saving for better sailing performance.
A two-spreader anodised aluminium mast standing 25.15 m above the waterline carries a 90 m² full-batten pin-top mainsail and a 66 m² furling genoa, giving 156 m² upwind; a 96.4 m² square-top main and a 102.8 m² Code 0 are optional. Bridge-to-bow stairs on both sides, a German mainsheet system and Harken winches keep handling simple for a short-handed crew.
3. Key Features
Fixed bow cockpit: Two large sun loungers and direct salon access turn the foredeck into a true living space.
Private cabins for up to 14: Four to six cabins, each with its own companionway, en-suite head and walk-in shower.
Three ways to the flybridge: Steps from the cockpit plus bridge-to-bow stairs on both sides make moving around the boat quick and safe.
Twin diesel saildrives: Standard 2x 50 hp saildrives, with optional 60 hp or 75 hp units and generator options up to 21 kW.
Entertainer's aft cockpit: An extendable table seats twelve, with loungers, bar stools and a sliding galley window.
4. Summary
The Aquila 50 Sail is designed for families, groups of friends and charter operators who want maximum space and privacy aboard a cruising catamaran that remains easy to sail. It suits owners planning long seasons afloat or bluewater voyages who value private en-suite cabins, abundant social areas and Aquila's proven construction.
