Boat Description
Aquila 50 Yacht: Explorer Style for Serious Bluewater Cruising
1. General Information
The Aquila 50 Yacht is a commanding, explorer-styled flybridge power catamaran created for owners who want to travel further in genuine comfort. Successor to the Aquila 48 and positioned between the 44 and 54 Yachts, it made its world debut at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. At 15.99 m overall with a vast 7.76 m beam and high freeboard, it offers the volume of a much larger monohull and carries CE Category A ocean certification.
The standard layout provides three cabins and three heads plus a utility room, with an optional four-cabin, four-head version and a forepeak skipper's cabin. The highlight is a single-level, full-beam master suite with a king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe, settee and twin-basin bathroom. The salon offers U-shaped seating for eight, the galley a four-burner induction hob and full-size French-door fridge, and the flybridge an L-shaped dining area, wet bar and sun loungers. Twin 982 L fuel tanks provide 1,964 L of standard capacity, with an optional 880 L tank for extended passages.
2. Construction and Design
Aquila builds the 50 Yacht with resin-infused vinylester throughout the hull, deck, bulkheads and reinforcement, load-optimised PVC cores and no plywood in structural components or below the waterline. Watertight bulkheads fore and aft, separately moulded breakaway bulbous bows, propeller tunnels and sacrificial skegs underline its focus on seaworthiness, efficiency and protection of the running gear.
The exterior pairs an upright explorer profile with panoramic, bonded tempered-glass windows that frame the sea from almost every seat. Inside, laminate cabinetry with solid wood capping, leather-wrapped stainless handrails, upholstered ceilings, LED mood lighting and memory-foam mattresses create a warm, residential feel. The hardtop is designed for solar panel integration, and an optional interior helm adds comfort in poor weather.
3. Key Features
Full-beam master suite: A single-level owner's suite spanning the width of the boat, with king bed, walk-in wardrobe, vanity and twin-sink en-suite.
Flexible propulsion: Standard twin Volvo Penta D6 380 hp diesels, with optional D6 480 hp or Yanmar 550 hp engines; the Aquila Hydro Glide® foil is available with the Yanmar package.
Cruising performance: The builder estimates a cruising speed of 18–19 knots and a top speed of around 22 knots with the standard engines.
Entertainer's flybridge: An expansive hardtop-covered flybridge with seating for eight, a wet bar and direct steps down to the bow.
Ocean-ready certification: CE Category A for up to 12 people, with capacity for up to 30 in coastal conditions.
4. Summary
The Aquila 50 Yacht is aimed at experienced cruising couples, families and charter operators who want a stable, voluminous and ocean-capable power catamaran for extended coastal and offshore voyages. It answers the need for a home from home afloat, combining a true owner's suite, generous guest accommodation, efficient diesel propulsion and a striking explorer aesthetic.
