Boat Description
Avalon Waketoon: The Award-Winning Pontoon That Surfs
1. General Information
The Avalon Waketoon is a genuinely different kind of boat: a true triple-pontoon tritoon that can throw a surfable wake. It made its public debut at the Minneapolis Boat Show in January 2020, where it won an NMMA Innovation Award, and Boating Industry later named it one of the year's top products. The idea is simple and compelling: families who love wakesurfing no longer have to choose between a dedicated wake boat and the space, comfort and easy ride of a pontoon. Today the Waketoon is offered in a single 23 ft layout measuring 7.24 m (23 ft 9 in) overall with a 2.59 m (8 ft 6 in) beam, rated for up to ten people. It suits active families, watersports enthusiasts and anyone who wants a boat that can surf, ski and wakeboard in the morning and become a relaxed lounge for an evening cruise.
2. Construction and Design
At the heart of the Waketoon is Avalon's patented Wakesurf triple pontoon hull, which combines an integrated rocker and shaping with contoured wake plates to direct water flow and build a clean, consistent wave. An aluminium waveshield, double full risers and in-floor ski storage complete the hull, and dry weight is around 1,905 kg. Power comes from an inboard-outboard drive mounted under the deck rather than a transom outboard, keeping the stern clear for an integrated swim platform. Deco 2 retro two-tone smooth panel walls give the exterior its look, while inside, 4000 Series furniture in ultrafine-touch vinyl, suspension seating, interior composite wall panels and full Riptide vinyl flooring keep the cockpit comfortable and easy to clean. Dual Commander fibreglass helmstands with a full windshield and automotive-stitched trim bring a premium, car-like feel to the helm.
3. Key Features
Touchscreen wake control. Automatic and manual controls drive electric actuators that press the Waveshaper fins at multiple angles, with speeds that can be preset for each rider.
Built-in V-8 power. A Mercury 350 hp 6.2-litre V-8 inboard-outboard with SeaStar hydraulic tilt steering, fed by a 64-gallon (242 L) remote-fill centre tube fuel tank.
Watersports tower and camera. An Xtreme electric sport tower with RGB lights, bimini top and board racks, a sundeck ski tow bar and a rear-view surf camera keep riders in sight.
Navigation and sound. A Garmin 743XSV GPS sits alongside a Fusion RA-770 system with six RGB-lit speakers, two amplifiers and a 10-inch subwoofer.
Integrated swim platform. A wide rear platform with a stainless telescoping ladder makes it easy for surfers to get ready, climb back aboard and dry off.
4. Summary
The Avalon Waketoon is addressed to active families and watersports fans who want one boat that surfs as well as it lounges. It suits buyers who value a stable, roomy pontoon platform, adjustable wakes for riders of every level and premium electronics, without the compromises of owning two separate boats.
