Baja 25 Outlaw: Big-Boat Thrills in a Trailerable Package
1. General Information
The Baja 25 Outlaw is a lively, single-engine performance boat that brings the bold styling and offshore attitude of Baja's larger Outlaw models to an affordable, easily towed 7.62 m hull. With a 2.49 m beam and a dry weight of around 2,155 kg, she suits owners who want genuine go-fast excitement on lakes, rivers and coastal waters without the running costs of a twin-engine boat.
From 2002 the standard engine was a 375 hp MerCruiser 496 Magnum sterndrive, with a 425 hp 496 MAG HO option that reached 57 knots in independent testing and cruised efficiently at around 36 knots. A 363 L fuel tank gives a range of more than 200 miles at cruise. Below the foredeck, a compact cuddy with a V-berth, side couches and a portable toilet offers shelter and a place to rest on longer days out.
2. Construction and Design
The 25 Outlaw rides on Baja's True V deep-V fibreglass hull with 24 degrees of deadrise at the transom, giving a solid, quiet and stable ride and quick planing for a boat of her weight. High freeboard adds a reassuring sense of security, while the deck and cockpit share the sleek look and helm layout of the bigger Outlaws.
The cockpit centres on two drop-bottom bolster seats at the helm, letting driver and companion sit or stand comfortably at speed, with an optional aft bench for extra guests. The cabin is simple but well finished, with decent headroom for a boat of this size. An SST package added distinctive graphics and trim on the same hull.
3. Key Features
Deep-V True V Hull: 24 degrees of deadrise deliver a smooth, stable ride in choppy water.
Single-Engine Speed: MerCruiser big-block power with top speeds of up to 57 knots and efficient fast cruising.
Easy to Tow: A 2.49 m beam and a shallow 0.58 m draft with the drive raised make trailering and launching straightforward.
Bolster Seating: Drop-bottom bolsters provide secure support for driver and passenger at high speed.
Practical Cuddy: A V-berth, couches and a portable toilet add day-long comfort.
4. Summary
The Baja 25 Outlaw is ideal for enthusiasts stepping into the performance boat world, or for experienced drivers who want a simpler, more economical single-engine go-fast. She suits couples and small groups who enjoy fast lake runs, poker runs and coastal day trips, and owners who value being able to tow their boat to new waters. On the pre-owned market she remains an accessible way into authentic Baja performance.
