Bali 5.2: Bali Catamarans' New Flagship Built Around Open-Space Living

1. General Information

The Bali 5.2 is Bali Catamarans' new flagship model, launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2025 to replace both the outgoing 4.8 and 5.4 in one stroke. At 52 feet, she carries every signature Bali feature into a size that is genuinely easier to handle than the larger 5.8: a solid forward deck, the brand's iconic tilting Bali door linking cockpit and saloon, and a flybridge with sunbathing space and a commanding helm position.

She is built for owners and charter operators alike, with layouts running from three to six cabins and up to 16 berths, so the same hull can be configured as a private long-range cruiser or a high-capacity charter platform. Twin 57hp diesels come as standard, upgradeable to 115hp each, and a large battery bank with optional solar keeps her genuinely capable of off-grid anchoring rather than relying on shore power or a generator.

2. Construction and Design

The Bali 5.2 was developed in-house by Catana's own R&D department and styled by Piaton Berco Design, the same studio responsible for interior architecture across the wider Bali range. Her defining feature, the electrically tilting Bali door, fully opens the boundary between the aft cockpit and the saloon, turning the two into one continuous, open-plan living space rather than the separated indoor and outdoor arrangement most catamarans use.

The solid forward deck is not purely a styling choice: beyond adding a lounge terrace forward, it stiffens the structure between the two hulls. Inside, the U-shaped galley and forward-facing chart table are laid out for genuine liveaboard use, and the saloon seats up to twelve at the dining table, reflecting Bali's long-running focus on interior volume over outright sailing performance.

3. Key Features

Signature Tilting Bali Door – An electrically operated door that opens the saloon fully to the aft cockpit, creating one uninterrupted open-plan living space.

Flexible Cabin Layouts – Available from three to six cabins with up to 16 berths, suiting anything from private long-range cruising to high-capacity charter operation.

Solid Forward Deck and Lounge – Adds a genuine outdoor terrace forward of the mast while stiffening the structure between the hulls.

Flybridge with Helm Station – A dedicated upper-deck lounge with sunbathing space and a commanding helm position, separate from the main cockpit.

Off-Grid Energy Independence – A large standard battery bank, with optional solar panels, supports extended anchoring without shore power or generator reliance.

4. Summary

The Bali 5.2 suits owners who prioritise living space and flexibility as highly as they do sailing performance: families and groups who want a genuinely spacious platform for extended cruising, and charter operators who need a layout that scales from three cabins to six without changing hulls. As the model replacing two long-running Bali bestsellers at once, and priced competitively within the Catana Group's current strategy, the 5.2 has been well received since her Cannes debut and looks set to become one of the range's core models for both private owners and fleet operators alike.
