Boat Description
Bass Cat Caracal STS: The STS Family Grows Stronger
1. General Information
The Bass Cat Caracal STS takes a name with decades of history in the Bass Cat line-up and rebuilds it on the brand's Soft Touch Series (STS) hull. At 6.15 metres (20' 2") with a broad 2.44-metre beam, it stretches the wide-body feel of the earlier Caracal into a completely redesigned boat, inside and out, that aims to outperform other 20-foot bass boats in its class.
It is aimed at tournament anglers and dedicated bass fishermen who want a roomy, stable 20-foot boat with a soft, dry ride. An outboard rating of 250 to 300 hp gives strong performance, and twin 102-litre fuel tanks (about 204 litres in total) provide a full day's range. As an open bass boat there is no cabin; the deck and cockpit are laid out for efficient fishing, with adjustable pedal and seat positions and a convenient bow day box.
2. Construction and Design
The Caracal STS uses 100% fibreglass hull construction, a foam-filled stringer system and vinyl ester resin on 60% of the outer laminate. The STS running surface is designed to deliver a dry, soft ride, and the efficient front deck uses offset lids and extra-large Reflex rod pads. The redesigned console offers elevated graph mounting flats for direct gimbal placement, while twin rod boxes with an organiser, a dip-net scabbard, pump-in/pump-out livewells with aeration and recirculation, insulated ice chests and deck lids, and billet aluminium hand rails make the layout practical and polished. A welded tandem-axle Bass Cat trailer with braked Torqueflex axles and a pivot tongue comes as standard.
3. Key Features
STS hull: The Soft Touch Series running surface gives a drier, smoother ride than conventional 20-foot hulls.
Wide 2.44 m beam: Extra width creates a stable platform and generous deck space.
Graph-ready console: Elevated mounting flats allow direct gimbal placement of large electronics.
Adjustable ergonomics: Pedal and seat positions can be set to suit each angler.
Long-range fuel: Twin 102-litre tanks carry around 204 litres.
4. Summary
The Bass Cat Caracal STS suits anglers who want the latest STS hull technology in a wide, roomy 20-foot package. It appeals to tournament competitors, team anglers and serious weekend fishermen who value a dry ride, smart ergonomics and a premium finish. For buyers seeking a modern, high-performance bass boat that builds on a respected name, the Caracal STS is a compelling choice.
