Boat Description
Bass Cat Puma STS: A Show-Stopping New Era for a Classic Name
1. General Information
The Bass Cat Puma STS keeps one of the brand's best-known names but is an entirely new boat. Developed under the codename Project Stealth, which began in 2018 alongside the redesigned Jaguar STS, it measures 6.27 metres (20' 7") and carries a wide 2.44-metre beam while preserving the speed and handling Bass Cat is known for. The award-winning model brought the Soft Touch Series (STS) running surface to the 20-foot class.
It is built for tournament anglers and committed bass fishermen who want flagship-style stability and space in a more manageable 20-foot package. The generous beam creates a stable casting platform and a confident ride in chop, while an outboard rating of 200 to 300 hp gives brisk acceleration. Twin 121-litre fuel tanks (around 242 litres in total) offer excellent range. There is no cabin; the layout is dedicated to fishing, storage and fast running between spots.
2. Construction and Design
The Puma STS features 100% fibreglass hull construction, a foam-filled stringer system and vinyl ester resin on 60% of the outer laminate. The STS running surface is designed for a softer, more controlled ride, and an optional patent-pending bevelled Reflex fitted-deck finish adds a premium touch. On deck, twin 2.44-metre rod boxes with an organiser, pump-in/pump-out livewells with automatic and manual aeration, insulated ice chests and deck lids, Plano tackle trays and billet aluminium lighted hand rails make the layout as practical as it is attractive. Premium bucket seats, a centre seat, 28-ounce carpet and a recessed trolling-motor pedal add comfort for long days on the water, and a matched tandem-axle trailer completes the package.
3. Key Features
STS running surface: Bass Cat's Soft Touch Series hull delivers a smoother, drier ride without sacrificing speed.
Wide 2.44 m beam: Extra width provides a stable platform for two anglers and better rough-water confidence.
242-litre fuel capacity: Twin 121-litre tanks give long range for full tournament days.
Twin full-length rod boxes: Matching 2.44-metre lockers keep long rods organised and protected.
Modern electronics package: Recent model years include two Humminbird Xplore 9 units, a digital switch panel and LED deck and livewell lighting.
4. Summary
The Bass Cat Puma STS suits anglers who want the latest Bass Cat hull technology in a 20-foot class boat. It appeals to tournament competitors, team-trail anglers and passionate weekend fishermen who value a stable, roomy deck, long range and refined detailing. For buyers looking for a modern premium bass boat that combines heritage, performance and practicality, the Puma STS is a strong contender.
