Boat Description
Bertram 50 Sport: The New Era of the Bertram Sportfish
1. General Information
The Bertram 50 Sport, previously known as the 50 Express, marks a new era for the Bertram sportfish. Introduced in 2020 and built in Tampa, Florida, this 15.70-metre yacht combines a fishing-ready cockpit with an enclosed command deck and a comfortable two-stateroom interior, ready to chase fish as far as its owner dares.
The ideal owner is a serious angler or family cruiser who wants sportfish capability with express-yacht comfort. A 4,679-litre fuel capacity, 681 litres of fresh water and twin Caterpillar C18 diesels provide the range and performance for long offshore runs, while two cabins and two heads make weekends aboard easy.
2. Construction and Design
The hull is resin-infused with a vinylester blend and reinforced with Kevlar along the keel and lift strakes, giving a strong, stiff structure. A 19° transom deadrise and 5.26-metre beam deliver a stable, sure-footed ride, and a Seakeeper 10 gyro comes as standard for comfort at rest.
The centreline helm sits in an enclosed command deck with generous headroom and three helm chairs, opening onto a teak cockpit with a mezzanine under the hardtop overhang. Below, a galley offset to port, a master cabin with island berth and a guest cabin with upper and lower berths are finished in warm teak, with Atlantic and Pacific interior packages available.
3. Key Features
Enclosed command deck: A climate-protected centreline helm with three chairs keeps the crew comfortable in any weather.
Fishing-ready cockpit: A teak cockpit with mezzanine seating and a tackle centre is built for fighting fish.
Caterpillar C18 power: Twin 1,150 mhp diesels cruise at around 30 knots and reach about 36 knots, with MAN V12 options for more speed.
Standard Seakeeper: A Seakeeper 10 gyro reduces roll for comfortable fishing and anchoring.
Two-cabin interior: A master with island berth, a bunk-bedded guest cabin and two heads accommodate family and crew.
4. Summary
The Bertram 50 Sport is aimed at anglers and families who want a modern, all-weather sportfish yacht with genuine offshore range. It suits owners who value Bertram's heritage and seakeeping, enclosed-helm comfort and a versatile layout for fishing, cruising and entertaining.
