Bertram 61 Convertible: Setting the Standard for Offshore Comfort
1. General Information
The Bertram 61 Convertible is the flagship of Bertram's Offshore Series, blending true blue-water seakeeping with luxury and serious sportfishing ability. Debuting at the Newport International Boat Show in 2018, this 18.64-metre convertible offers room for family, friends and crew to fish hard by day and relax in comfort by night.
The ideal owner is a tournament angler or long-range cruiser who wants a refined yacht without compromising fishing capability. Three staterooms and three heads sleep up to six guests, while 6,443 litres of fuel, 1,060 litres of fresh water and twin Caterpillar C32 diesels give the range and pace for distant canyons and island-hopping alike.
2. Construction and Design
The sea-kindly hull was designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, with an 18° transom deadrise and a 5.56-metre beam for a stable, comfortable ride offshore. A Seakeeper 18 gyro stabiliser comes as standard, keeping the boat steady when trolling, drifting or at anchor.
Inside, a contemporary, minimalist interior with warm teak and cream finishes is wrapped in glass for panoramic views. The open salon flows into a spacious galley, while below deck three staterooms and three heads provide hotel-like comfort. Owners can choose a queen or split bunks forward and personalise the look with the Atlantic or Pacific interior packages.
3. Key Features
Twin Caterpillar C32 power: 1,925 mhp per side delivers a 34-knot cruise and a top speed of around 44 knots.
Tournament cockpit: A teak-covered cockpit with a large mezzanine lounge gives anglers and guests a front-row seat to the action.
Commanding flybridge: A large bridge with the helm set well aft provides a clear view of the cockpit and the trolling spread.
Standard stabilisation: A Seakeeper 18 gyro reduces roll for more comfort at rest and on the troll.
Three-stateroom luxury: Three cabins and three heads, with a choice of queen or split bunks forward, accommodate up to six guests.
4. Summary
The Bertram 61 Convertible is aimed at serious tournament anglers, long-range sportfishermen and owners who want a luxurious, fast and stable flagship. It suits buyers who expect blue-water capability and Bertram heritage alongside a modern, elegant interior for family and guests.
