Boat Description
Crestliner 1600 Vision Tiller: A Hands-On Aluminium Fishing Boat for Serious Anglers
1. General Information
The Crestliner 1600 Vision Tiller is the purist's version of Crestliner's popular 16-foot Vision line: a welded aluminium deep-V fishing boat steered directly from the outboard's tiller handle rather than a console. At 4.98 m overall with a 2.06 m beam, it gives up to five people a stable, uncluttered platform, and with no console in the way the whole cockpit becomes fishing space. Rated for 40 to 75 hp tiller outboards and fed by a 45-litre portable fuel tank, it is at home on lakes, reservoirs and sheltered rivers, from early-morning walleye drifts to slow-trolling for pike or working weed edges for bass. As an open day boat without a cabin, its priorities are simple: fishability, storage and easy handling.
2. Construction and Design
The hull is built from marine-grade aluminium with a 0.100-inch bottom, 0.080-inch sides and a heavy 0.125-inch transom, giving it the toughness to cope with rocky launches and years of hard use. A 10-degree deadrise and 67-inch chine width strike a sensible balance between a comfortable ride and good stability at rest, while a 24-inch maximum cockpit depth keeps crew secure. The tiller layout places the operator at the stern within easy reach of the command panel, storage and motor, and the open bow lets anglers cast from almost anywhere aboard. With a dry weight of around 409 kg, it is light enough to tow behind a modest vehicle and launch with ease.
3. Key Features
Tiller Steering – Direct, responsive control from the stern, ideal for precise boat positioning and slow trolling.
Open Bow Casting Space – With no console to work around, anglers can cast from anywhere on the boat.
17-Gallon Aerated Livewell – A bow livewell of roughly 64 litres with bait bucket keeps bait and catches in good condition.
Lockable Rod Storage – A lockable in-floor rod locker plus a starboard quick-access rack keep rods protected and close to hand.
Easy Trailering – A light aluminium hull and compact overall dimensions make towing, launching and storage straightforward.
4. Summary
The Crestliner 1600 Vision Tiller suits freshwater anglers who prefer the control and simplicity of a tiller outboard and want every square metre of deck devoted to fishing. It is a natural choice for walleye and multi-species anglers, owners stepping up from a smaller jon boat, and anyone who values a tough, low-maintenance aluminium hull that is easy to tow and affordable to run.
