Boat Description
Crestliner 1650 Discovery Tiller
1. General Information
The Crestliner 1650 Discovery Tiller is a compact aluminium fishing boat from Crestliner's Pure Fishing Deep-V lineup, built by the Brunswick Boat Group. Steered by a simple tiller-mounted outboard rather than a console, it is aimed at anglers who want a nimble, easy-to-handle rig for lakes and rivers. With seating for up to five, a wide-open cockpit and an outboard HP range of 25 to 60 hp, the 1650 Discovery Tiller suits everything from a quiet morning of walleye or crappie fishing to light-duty camping and hunting trips. Its modest dry weight and trailer-friendly dimensions make it a practical choice for owners who want to launch quickly and tow easily behind a mid-size vehicle.
2. Construction and Design
The hull is a four-piece, all-welded aluminium construction with a variable-degree deep-V deadrise (6° at the transom) for a soft, stable ride in chop. Aluminium gauge runs 2.29 mm (0.090") on the bottom, 2.03 mm (0.080") on the sides and 2.54 mm (0.100") at the transom, with a welded, extruded full-length keel and a welded reverse chine extrusion with a spray deflector to keep the ride dry. Extruded gunnels carry Crestliner's SureMount accessory system and snapless J-Hook fittings for a custom travel cover, and the hull finish uses Crestliner's baked Armor-Guard paint process for long-term durability. At 5.03 m LOA and 1.92 m beam overall, the boat is sized for easy trailering, backed up by black composite cleats, stainless steel bow and stern eyes and a reboarding ladder.
3. Key Features
Aerated bow livewell: an 11-US-gallon (approx. 42 L) aerated livewell in the bow keeps a catch of walleye, bass or crappie lively through the day.
In-floor rod storage: a lockable, in-floor rod locker holds up to four rods to 8'6", freeing up cockpit space and keeping tackle secure while under way.
Quick-access rod racks: port and starboard gunnel-mounted racks each hold two rods up to 9', ready to grab the moment a fish is spotted.
SureMount gunnel accessory system: extruded gunnels accept SureMount-compatible accessories along with a snapless J-Hook custom travel cover for easy storage between trips.
Bow and cockpit storage: dedicated bow and cockpit storage compartments, plus a battery and portable fuel tank compartment and a 12V-compatible trolling motor battery bay, keep gear organised and out of the way.
Tiller configuration: a straightforward tiller-steered layout keeps the cockpit open and uncluttered, ideal for anglers who value simplicity and easy single-handed operation.
4. Summary
The Crestliner 1650 Discovery Tiller is a practical, no-frills aluminium fishing boat that pairs rugged all-welded construction with genuinely useful fishing features, from its aerated livewell to its in-floor rod storage. It suits anglers and light hunters who want an affordable, easily trailerable tiller boat for freshwater outings, without the added complexity or cost of console steering.
