Boat Description
Crestliner 1660 Retriever Jon Deluxe: A Tough, Wide-Beam Tiller Jon Boat for Anglers and Hunters
1. General Information
The Crestliner 1660 Retriever Jon Deluxe is a 4.88-metre tiller jon boat from Crestliner's Hunt & Utility range, designed from the outset for anglers and waterfowl hunters. Its generous 2.16-metre beam and flat, wide hull deliver a stable, roomy platform for casting, setting decoys or carrying dogs and gear, while a shallow draft of around 0.50 metres lets it reach backwaters, marshes, flooded timber and small rivers. Rated for four people and outboards from 20 to 50 hp, including Mercury jet-drive options for very shallow water, it runs from a portable fuel tank and keeps operating costs low. As an open utility boat with no cabin, it is all about durability, deck space and practical storage, making it ideal for hands-on outdoor users who want one boat for fishing season and hunting season alike.
2. Construction and Design
The hull is an all-welded marine-grade aluminium structure using heavy 0.100-inch (2.54 mm) gauge for the bottom, sides and transom, reinforced by a full-length extruded welded keel, extra-strength extruded cross and side ribs, formed spray rails and six formed strakes. A shallow deadrise of roughly 3.5 to 4 degrees and a 60-inch chine width give excellent initial stability at rest, while level flotation, a wood-free build and enamel paint finish add peace of mind and low maintenance. An extruded gunwale with Crestliner's SureMount lock-track system allows rod holders, gun racks and electronics to be added without drilling, and an optional Crest-Liner interior coating provides a non-slip, hard-wearing deck.
3. Key Features
Bow Casting Platform – A low bow platform doubles as storage, with two large lockable compartments fitted with compression latches.
Aerated Bow Livewell – A 16-gallon (approx. 61-litre) livewell comes as standard to keep bait and catches lively.
Quick-Access Rod Rack – A port-side rack holds up to three full-size rods ready for use.
SureMount Gunwale System – Integrated lock-track gunwales for mounting accessories exactly where they are needed.
Practical Fit-Out – Winged stern bench seat on a seat track, bow pedestal seat base, switch panel, 12V trolling-motor outlet with wiring harness, battery tray, manual bilge pump and navigation light.
4. Summary
The Crestliner 1660 Retriever Jon Deluxe suits hunters and anglers who want a rugged, uncomplicated aluminium boat with more width, storage and standard equipment than a basic jon. Its heavy-gauge welded hull, wide stable deck and simple tiller operation make it a dependable choice for duck hunting, shallow-water fishing and general utility work, season after season.
