Boat Description

Crestliner 1850 Commander: A Rugged Aluminium Deep-V Built for Big Water

1. General Information

The Crestliner 1850 Commander is a 5.69-metre all-welded aluminium deep-V fishing boat designed for anglers who fish big, rough water and want a tough, uncomplicated boat that keeps them dry and safe. Successor to the 1850 Commander Elite, it brings the Commander family's legendary durability to a manageable size, with seating for six, a 953 kg maximum weight capacity and a rating of 115 to 150 hp. Its dual consoles and all-welded walk-through windshield shelter the crew on cold, windy mornings, while the open cockpit and bow give plenty of room to troll, jig or cast for walleye, salmon, trout, pike and musky on the Great Lakes and other large waters.

2. Construction and Design

The hull is built from four all-welded aluminium panels with a variable-degree deadrise reaching 17 degrees at the transom, a full-length extruded welded keel and welded reverse chine extrusions with spray deflectors, giving a dry, controlled ride in a chop. Heavy-gauge plating of 3.18 mm on the bottom and transom and 2.29 mm on the sides adds strength, while a deep 0.76-metre cockpit and 1.12-metre maximum depth keep crew secure. The welded aluminium bow is fully sealed, the cockpit and decks use vinyl over treated panel flooring, and the transom is wood-free. Extruded gunwales with SureMount and J-Hook systems make it easy to add rod holders, downrigger brackets and other accessories, and baked Armor-Guard paint protects the finish.

3. Key Features

Advanced Electronics Mounting – Room for dual 12-inch graphs at the helm and compatibility with a 72-inch bow-mount trolling motor.

All-Welded Walk-Through Windshield – Dual consoles with a lockable glove box and an ultra-tough welded windshield provide shelter on big water.

Purpose-Built Rod Storage – A lockable in-floor centre locker for five rods up to 7 feet plus open port and starboard storage for eight rods up to 9 ft 6 in.

18-Gallon Insulated Livewell – An aerated, insulated bow livewell of about 68 litres keeps catch in top condition.

Practical Fishing Layout – A bow step with storage, stern cutting station, foredeck cubby and open under-console storage keep gear organised.

4. Summary

The Crestliner 1850 Commander suits serious anglers who regularly face big lakes, rivers and coastal bays and want a heavy-duty aluminium boat with a secure, sheltered layout. Its 17-degree deep-V hull, welded windshield, generous storage and 115–150 hp power range make it a dependable, no-nonsense choice for trolling and multi-species fishing in challenging conditions.
