With popularity of the “northwest trawler”-style boat on the rise, PAE set out to create a big modern passagemaker that fused this salty look with the advanced systems of the latest Nordhavns. The result was the Nordhavn 76: developed for those yachtsmen who want an aft pilothouse boat which carries its shore boats on the foredeck. Like our venerable Nordhavn 62, the pilothouse of the N76 is set aft, carries its crane forward and can launch its shore boats off either the port or starboard side. Based on the hull form and specifications of the N72, the simple goal of this model was to create a small superyacht which was true to the rugged ocean going heritage of other Nordhavns while at the same time stunning in her elegance, fit and finish, systems and engineering.
Nearly a year was spent in the tooling and mold-building phase of this project to create the hundreds of highly polished molds required to construct this complex boat in gleaming gel coat finished GRP (fiberglass) construction.&nbsp;An interior decorator was commissioned to up the degree of style most megayachts are known for, including crown moldings, granite, leather, well-engineered lighting, and the finest appliances. Though a little more glitzy, there’s no denying that a Nordhavn exists at the heart of this boat. Numerous handrails, half-inch tempered glass windows, watertight doors and bulkheads and many other features essential for safe operation offshore.
Like the 72, the fact that this boat is so complete, a regular options list does not exist. Standard on the 76 is chilled water air conditioning, TRAC stabilizers, bow and stern thrusters, Marquipt davit, wing engine, dry exhaust, windlass and ground tackle, and a lot more. Simply add your electronics package, tenders on deck, personal affects you’re ready to go.
The standard propulsion configuration of the N76 is classic Nordhavn. The single main engine is the highly respected John Deere 6135AFM in the 500 hp configuration and with its 20,000-hour life expectancy, should outlast most of us. Dry exhaust and keel cooling are standard as is the Lugger wing engine.

To optimise weight savings the owner implemented materials that are high-tech and lightweight both in the interior and exterior. Based on the amazing success of the Xquisite X5, the joint venture between Xquisite Yachts and Cape Town based Phoenix Marine announces the arrival of their new model, the X5 PLUS.The use of modern materials and build techniques, such as vacuum infusion and composite bulkheads allowed for a significantly lighter build of the X5 PLUS. The 16 tons light displacement, and the much more powerful sail plan guarantees fast and comfortable passages.&nbsp;The new bow design offers modern looks, while the overall length of the new model is 53’ with the additional bow sprit which is part of the very powerful sail plan of the new X5 PLUS. All the lines are led to the protected helm station and all three headsails are installed on electric furlers, allowing to sail the boat completely single handed in any wind angle or sail plan.&nbsp;Many other improvements are based on the experience building the X5 over the past 6 years, as well as on the feedback received from all the Xquisite owners after they sailed their X5 thousands of miles: Besides the great sailing performance, probably the other most important improvement is regarding the electrical system. The new generation 22kWh Li-ion batteries and new high-tech solar panels from Germany are standard now with a total of 2,3 KW high efficiency solar array, which work much better in low light conditions as well. The new panels are built with tempered ‘walk-on glass’ making easy to work on the coach roof, and the new 24V electrical system includes high output alternators, battery chargers and 6kW inverter. The overhead rain shower in the cockpit is complimented by a pull-out shower, and the shore water connection on the transom helps to avoid contamination of the water tanks with marina water while at the dock. New and much improved multizone Fusion Apollo sound system with more speakers and subwoofer offers great sound quality. The cabinetry got new hardware with soft closing drawers and hinges as well as new latches, while the headroom in the salon was increased by 4 inches. Several different color choices are available both for the interior and exterior.

The Swedish sailor Kurt Björklund's Hallberg-Rassy 31 Monsun "Golden Lady" has after three and a half circumnavigations been retired into a museum. The Swedish sailor Kurt Björklund´s Hallberg-Rassy Monsun 31 "Golden Lady" has become an important attraction at a museum in Råå in southern Sweden. We at Hallberg-Rassy are of course very proud of this. Kurt Björklund is the first owner and took delivery of this boat here in Ellös 1974. Kurt knew that he wanted to do some serious sailing, but could never have imagined how far he would travel. In 1983 Kurt retired from work and went on his first solo circumnavigation. The second one included the rounding of Cape Horn.
