Regulator 23: Big-Water Confidence in a Trailerable Package
1. General Information
The Regulator 23 is a compact, rugged and remarkably capable offshore centre console that brings the North Carolina builder's renowned big-water ride to a 7.14 m hull. Designed first and foremost for serious saltwater anglers, it is equally at home as a family day boat, with generous seating, a bow area for lounging and a protected helm under a fibreglass T-top. Twin Yamaha F150 outboards give a top speed of around 40 knots, while a 564 L fuel capacity supports long runs to distant reefs, canyons and tournament grounds. There are no overnight cabins – this is a day boat – but an optional enclosed head in the console adds welcome comfort on longer outings.
2. Construction and Design
Regulator builds the 23 around its signature deep-V hull, with a 24° deadrise that slices through chop and delivers a dry, stable and predictable ride in rough conditions. The solid fibreglass construction, a dry weight of about 3,230 kg with engines and a 2.59 m beam give the boat a planted, heavy-feeling ride that belies its length. Finish quality is a hallmark of the brand, from gelcoated lockers and hatches to stainless hardware and a neatly laid-out console with a factory-installed Garmin electronics package. Seating is well thought out: forward seats double as insulated fishboxes, the console front houses a cooler seat, and leaning-post and tackle-centre options let owners tailor the cockpit to their style of fishing.
3. Key Features
Deep-V offshore hull: The 24° deadrise softens head seas and keeps the ride dry, making long offshore runs comfortable for a boat of this size.
Twin-engine reliability: Twin Yamaha F150 outboards on a bracket provide redundancy far offshore, strong acceleration and a top speed of around 40 knots.
Serious fishing storage: An in-deck fishbox with locking rod storage, two insulated forward fishboxes and a transom livewell/fishbox keep catches and tackle organised.
Long-range capability: A 564 L fuel tank and 76 L freshwater tank support full days far from the marina.
Trailerable versatility: With a 2.59 m beam, the 23 can be towed to new fishing grounds and stored at home, saving on marina costs.
4. Summary
The Regulator 23 is aimed at dedicated saltwater anglers and tournament fishermen who want genuine offshore ability without the cost, size and storage demands of a larger boat. It suits owners who value a soft, dry ride, twin-engine peace of mind and premium build quality, and who also want a comfortable, social platform for family days on the water. For buyers seeking a trailerable centre console that runs like a much bigger boat, the 23 is a compelling, long-lasting choice.
