Regulator 28: The Best-Selling Offshore Centre Console, Refined
1. General Information
The Regulator 28 is the builder's best-selling model: a fast, solid and superbly finished offshore centre console that blends serious fishing ability with genuine family comfort. Measuring 8.43 m with a 2.87 m beam, it is powered as standard by twin Yamaha F350 outboards on an offshore bracket, delivering a top speed of more than 53 knots and an easy cruise in the mid-30s. A large 829 L fuel tank provides the range for canyon runs and long days offshore. There are no overnight cabins – this is a dedicated day boat – but the full-height head compartment with 1.93 m of headroom, a 125 L freshwater supply and plenty of seating make it comfortable for the whole crew. The latest update brought features inspired by the larger Regulator 35, along with standard Seakeeper Ride for an even smoother passage.
2. Construction and Design
Regulator builds the 28 on its renowned deep-V fibreglass hull with a 24° deadrise, giving the soft, dry and confident ride the brand is known for. At around 4,300 kg dry with engines, the boat has the mass to settle into a sea rather than skip across it, and Seakeeper Ride actively reduces pitch and roll underway. Recent design updates include a raised bullnose toe rail, a redesigned T-top with a ventilation system, drainage gutters and an integrated handrail, plus magnetic cushions and a cockpit freshwater engine flush. The helm carries factory-installed Garmin electronics, and fit and finish throughout reflects Regulator's premium build standards.
3. Key Features
Twin Yamaha F350 power: Two 350 hp V8 outboards give twin-engine security offshore and a top speed above 53 knots.
Standard Seakeeper Ride: Active ride control reduces pitch and roll, keeping crew more comfortable on long runs in a chop.
Updated T-top: A ventilation system, drainage gutters and an integrated handrail improve comfort and safety at the helm.
Extensive fishing storage: An in-deck fishbox with locking rod storage, forward fishboxes, a transom livewell and fishbox keep the boat tournament-ready.
Full-height head: A console head compartment with 1.93 m of headroom makes long days aboard practical for families and guests.
4. Summary
The Regulator 28 is aimed at committed offshore anglers who want a proven, fast and beautifully built centre console that can also serve as a comfortable family day boat. It suits owners who run to canyons and offshore grounds, value twin-engine reliability and a smooth, stabilised ride, and appreciate premium fit and finish. For buyers seeking one of the most respected boats in its class, the 28 is a confident, long-term choice.
