Boat Overview
Boat Description
Winner of Boat of the year award. The Moorings 5000 fully deserves its honorary title of Charter Boat of the Year. Considered to be the best boat in the world for a sailing holiday by Cruising World magazine, this king-size catamaran has totally outstripped its rivals and showcases all the know-how that the Robertson & Caine shipyards have accumulated over the years.
Reaching such a level of perfection is not just a matter of beginner’s luck. Quite the opposite in fact, because Moorings and Robertson & Caine have been working in close collaboration for over 25 years now in order to come up with this quintessential catamaran cruiser, which is finally available in our charter yacht management programs.
Once again, the responsibility for designing this boat was handed to Alex Simonis. And, as is his custom, he opted to go for the now tried and tested stepped hull design, which makes it possible to both wide enough to increase the living space above the water line and yet sufficiently well-profiled to ensure good sailing performance. The upcome of this very canny design is a catamaran which will fulfil any owner’s dream, as it is not only roomy, but also fast and powerful. It is also a pleasure for the eye as it boasts a sleek, modern line and stylish black hullside windows which are all part and parcel of the Leopard house style for its new range of catamarans.
What really made us fall in love with the Moorings 5000 is the « lounge ». This congenial leisure area, located just above the aft cockpit on the flybridge provides a breath taking, panoramic view of the surrounding ocean for all the crew. It is the ideal spot to gaze at the sunset while comfortably sipping an aperitif, the boat safely nestled in your favorite cove.
Out at sea, like all catamarans built in South Africa, the Moorings 5000 will prove to be extremely sea-going. Incredibly easy to handle at the helm for a boat of this size, it is the perfect choice for crews made up of debutantes or hardened sailors alike. And guess what else we have in store for you? All the lines, block and tackle are within easy reach when at the helm station! So, you can just decide to weigh anchor and set sail, whether you are with any group of friends or even if short-crewed, at the drop of a hat. It’s your boat, so it’s you who writes the rules.
