Boat Overview

Boat Description

Sanger 231 SL: The Flagship Built for Big Surf Waves

1. General Information

The Sanger 231 SL is the largest and most capable towboat in the Sanger Boats range, a 6.96 m wakesurf and wakeboard boat introduced for the 2020 model year. Spacious, powerful and remarkably efficient for its size, it is designed for families and dedicated riders who want a big, consistent surf wave without giving up comfort. With a generous 2.59 m beam and seating for up to 16 people, the open-bow layout turns a day on the lake into a social event, while the 265 L fuel tank supports long sessions on the water. As an open day boat there are no cabins or galley; the space is devoted to lounging, riding and gear.

2. Construction and Design

Sanger builds the 231 SL around a uni-body hull and deck with a full-length stringer, giving a stiff, quiet fibreglass structure with a 0.74 m draft and a 16-degree deadrise at the transom. Power comes from the Indmar Raptor 440, delivering 398 hp to an ACME propeller through brass underwater gear, so the boat climbs on plane quickly even when fully ballasted. Rack-and-pinion tilt steering and a Livorsi digital throttle give precise control. Inside, a deluxe upholstery package, Sanger's dual observer seats, a swivelling driver's bolster seat, LED-lit cup holders, a built-in ice chest and GatorStep non-skid flooring create a comfortable, practical cockpit, and a large centre walk-through leads to the stern sun-deck area.

3. Key Features

Sanger GSA Surf System: Shapes a clean, consistent wave on either side, so riders can switch between goofy and regular stance without long set-up changes.

Triple and Flash Flood ballast: Pump-in front and rear tanks plus under-floor Flash Flood ballast add roughly 2,359 kg of water weight for a large, powerful surf wake.

Zero Effort Deluxe Apollo tower: A folding tower with swivel board racks keeps boards secure and makes garaging and trailering easy.

Zero Off GPS speed control and touchscreen dash: An 8-inch touchscreen and GPS cruise control hold exact riding speeds for repeatable wakes every pass.

Easy Load fold-down swim platform: Simplifies boarding from the water and gives riders a stable base to gear up between sets.

4. Summary

The Sanger 231 SL suits buyers who want a full-size, premium wakesurf boat for large groups: families, clubs and committed surfers who value wave size, seating space and reliable Indmar power. Supplied with a tandem-axle trailer, a premium audio system and a comprehensive standard specification, it offers a turnkey package for anyone ready to step up to a flagship towboat.
