Boat Description
The SW120 yacht is the flagship of Southern Wind Shipyard’s range of semi-custom bluewater performance sailing yachts. It represents superb development on the SW96 and SW105 models that have already proven the successful collaboration between Southern Wind, Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design.
The design brief for these new sailing yachts begins with Southern Wind’s underlying principle of creating dependable sailing yachts that offer comfort and performance without compromising on safety and reliability.
The SW120 yacht is a versatile semi-custom design platform offering owners the flexibility to tailor the specification and give the yacht her own unique personality. This practical and efficient alternative to a full-custom construction is advantageous to the Owner, offering all the benefits of a series build, including a higher level of reliability, combined into a more cost effective project.
Naval architect Farr Yacht Design has created the SW120 following a multipurpose design brief for a superyacht that may be optimised with her owner’s specific intentions in mind. Whether the priorities are long range cruising, Bucket racing, or to build the perfect charter vessel, this new sailing yacht may serve as a starting point for an owner, allowing a wide variety of options and solutions to customise the yacht and achieve their desired specification. Performance is embodied in every SWS yacht and the SW120 will deliver the thrill of exhilarating sailing with a fantastic helming experience and the ability to sail with a limited crew.
The SW120 yacht will be constructed in Corecell composite sandwich utilizing the infusion technique, a tried and tested system that allows for a lightweight yet stiff and durable construction. Nomex and pre-preg may also be implemented in certain areas, depending on weight targets.
