Valhalla Boatworks V-37: Viking Fishing Pedigree, Outboard Agility
1. General Information
The Valhalla Boatworks V-37 is a high-performance centre console fishing boat that brings Viking Yachts' celebrated sportfishing heritage to the outboard-powered market. Launched in 2019 alongside the V-33 and V-41, this 11.2-metre offshore centre console was conceived as a fast, stable and thoroughly equipped platform for anglers who run long distances to canyons, reefs and bluewater grounds. Twin or triple outboards of up to 1,350 hp deliver exhilarating performance, with independent tests recording top speeds in the mid-50-knot range, while a generous 1,779-litre fuel capacity provides a range in the region of 300 nautical miles at efficient cruising speeds.
As a dedicated day boat, the V-37 has no sleeping cabins; instead, its spacious console houses a private head with sink and shower, together with lockable rod and tackle storage. The ideal owner is a committed sport fisherman or tournament crew seeking big-boat fishability with the agility and lower running costs of an outboard centre console.
2. Construction and Design
Developed by the Viking design and engineering team in collaboration with Michael Peters Yacht Design, the V-37 rides on a patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) running surface. Air is drawn beneath the twin-stepped deep-V hull to reduce wetted surface and drag, while the tunnel's vertical walls act like a keel, helping the boat track straight and carve confidently through turns. A 24-degree transom deadrise ensures a soft, dry ride when the sea builds.
The fibreglass hull is built around a resin-infused structural stringer grid with a combination of solid and foam-cored laminates, reflecting Viking's exacting construction standards. The grid incorporates a dedicated mounting for a Seakeeper gyro stabiliser, so roll damping comes without sacrificing deck space. On deck, the layout prioritises fishing efficiency and crew comfort, with helm seating behind a frameless wraparound windscreen, mezzanine seating aft, a forward console lounge and an optional fibreglass hardtop with a second station.
3. Key Features
Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel hull: The Michael Peters-designed running surface lowers drag for higher speed and better efficiency, while delivering stable, predictable handling offshore.
Integrated Seakeeper stabilisation: A Seakeeper SK 3 sits within the stringer grid, dramatically reducing roll at rest when drifting, trolling or bottom fishing.
Serious fishing capacity: A 212-litre transom live well, oversized in-deck fishboxes, an optional raised bow live well and abundant rod storage keep the cockpit organised for any type of fishing.
Long-range fuel capacity: With 1,779 litres of fuel on board, the V-37 can comfortably reach distant offshore grounds and return with a healthy reserve.
Flexible outboard power: Owners can choose twin Yamaha V8 450 XTO or triple Yamaha and Mercury Verado packages, with joystick docking available for effortless close-quarters manoeuvring.
4. Summary
The Valhalla Boatworks V-37 is aimed at experienced offshore anglers, tournament teams and owners stepping down from a convertible sportfisher who still demand serious fish-raising ability. Combining Viking build quality, a stable and efficient stepped hull, generous fuel and live well capacity and a comfortable, well-protected helm, it is equally at home on long canyon runs, in competitive fishing events and on fast coastal day cruises with family and friends.
