Westport 112: American Craftsmanship at Superyacht Scale
1. General Information
The Westport 112 is a refined, crew-operated raised-pilothouse motor yacht from Westport Yachts, the American builder celebrated for its semi-custom composite yachts. At 34.14 metres overall with a generous 7.24-metre beam, she pairs brisk, confident performance with a relaxed and sociable layout, and remains one of the most recognisable flybridge yachts in the 30-to-35-metre class.
She is ideal for owners who cruise extensively with family and friends, and equally well suited to private charter. Up to eight guests are accommodated in four en-suite staterooms – master, VIP, double and twin – all on the lower deck, with quarters for up to five crew. The main deck offers a bright, open saloon, formal dining for eight and a social country-style galley, while the flybridge adds an alfresco lounge, bar and space for a tender. A moderate draught of around 1.7 metres opens up shallow anchorages in the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and at economical speeds her range extends to roughly 2,000 nautical miles.
2. Construction and Design
Westport builds the 112 in-house from GRP (fibreglass) composite for both hull and superstructure, keeping weight under control and maintenance comparatively low. Her semi-displacement, shaft-driven hull was developed for a smooth, stable ride at fast cruising speeds, and her exterior lines are the work of naval architect Gregory C. Marshall. Inside, Westport's own design team favours a casually elegant style, with warm wood joinery, natural stone and large hull windows that fill the saloon with daylight. Thoughtful stateroom placement and separate crew circulation give guests privacy and quiet comfort throughout.
3. Key Features
Fast cruising performance: Twin MTU 16V2000 diesel engines deliver a cruising speed of around 22 knots and a top speed of about 25 knots, unusually quick for a yacht of this volume.
Shallow draught: A draught of under two metres lets her reach secluded bays, coves and shoal harbours that larger superyachts must avoid.
Four en-suite staterooms: All guest cabins sit on the lower deck with private bathrooms, separating sleeping areas from the lively main-deck living spaces.
Expansive flybridge: An open-air lounge and bar, with aft space for sunbathing or tender stowage and launch, makes the upper deck the yacht's social heart.
Proven semi-custom build: Built in series by Westport's own craftsmen, the 112 combines the reliability of a well-tested platform with scope for personal interior choices.
4. Summary
The Westport 112 is aimed at owners stepping into the superyacht world who want genuine performance, practical running costs and a yacht that is easy for a small professional crew to manage. Her fast cruising speed, shallow draught and long range suit island-hopping itineraries, while four en-suite staterooms and generous social spaces make her a natural choice for families, entertaining hosts and charter-minded buyers seeking a dependable, beautifully finished American motor yacht.
