Boat Description
Yellowfin 42 Offshore: Multi-Day Offshore Center Console with Sub-Deck Cabin
1. General Information
The Yellowfin 42 Offshore is the American builder's flagship large center console, a 12.80 m (42 ft) offshore fishing boat with a beam of 3.66 m (12 ft). It builds on the 39 Offshore by adding a genuine sub-deck cabin, dual-row helm seating and a slightly larger hull, which turns a pure fishing platform into a boat that can stay out for several days.
Designed for triple or quad outboards of up to 1,700 hp in total, it is pitched against much larger inboard sportfishing boats on the far offshore grounds, at a lower cost. It is equally suited to taking a full crew on a long cruise to a distant destination in comfort.
2. Key Features
Sub-deck cabin: a real cabin below the console with a head compartment, giving the crew proper accommodation for multi-day trips.
Fishing layout: 14 Gemlux rod holders, an insulated fish box with a gulper pump, and two plumbed livewells, one in the transom and one in the leaning post, plus fresh and saltwater washdown.
Hardtop: a hardtop with seven rod holders on its frame and spreader lights. Hardtop and tower options are available.
Stabilisation and control: a Seakeeper Ride 750 Quad system, electric steering and C-Zone digital switching are all standard.
Seating and helm: dual-row helm seating, a leaning post and a Gemlux Belloca stainless-steel steering wheel. Forward seating and second-row seating are optional.
Corrosion-resistant hardware: titanium cleats and through-hulls.
3. Performance and Capacity
The approximate weight is 8,103 kg with power, a light fuel load and empty livewells and fresh water tanks. Fuel capacity is 2,180 L, which gives the long range needed for offshore tournament fishing or extended cruising. Options include a generator, air conditioning, additional livewells and a gyroscopic stabiliser.
4. Who It Is For
The 42 Offshore suits serious offshore anglers and tournament crews who want sportfish capability without an inboard boat's running costs, and families or groups who want a fast, comfortable boat for long coastal passages. Yellowfin has announced a revamped version with an all-new hardtop and a fully enclosed console, so buyers should check which version they are looking at.
