Set up in ChatGPT

You will need the server address:

Text
https://se.marinedatacloud.com/api/assistant/mcp

Add the connector

  1. Open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose to add a custom connector, and paste the URL above.
  3. Name it TheBoatApp.
  4. Confirm, then sign in to TheBoatApp in the window that opens and approve access.

Once connected, TheBoatApp appears in your connector list and can be used in a conversation.

Custom MCP connectors in ChatGPT depend on your plan, and on some plans they must first be enabled in settings before a custom connector can be added. If you cannot find the option, that is what is missing — the server itself needs no different configuration.

Using it

Start a conversation and enable the TheBoatApp connector for it, then ask your question. ChatGPT asks permission before the first use of each tool.

Try:

  • What maintenance is overdue on my boat?
  • What did I spend on fuel last season?
  • List the spares stored in the engine room locker.
  • Which alerts are due in the next month?

If ChatGPT answers from memory instead of checking, say "look it up in TheBoatApp" — that reliably pushes it to use the connector rather than guess.

Removing the connector

Open Settings → Connectors and delete the TheBoatApp entry. Access ends immediately, and nothing in your TheBoatApp account changes.

If something is not working

The connector is not offered in the conversation. Connectors are enabled per conversation on some plans. Check the conversation's tool or connector menu before assuming the connection failed.

Sign-in succeeds but no data comes back. Confirm you signed in with the account that holds your boats. If your browser was already signed in as a different TheBoatApp user, that is the account that got connected — sign out there and reconnect, or use a private window.

Answers look out of date. Each question is answered from a fresh read, so this is usually ChatGPT reusing an earlier answer in the same conversation rather than stale data. Ask it to check again.

It will not update anything. Every tool is read-only by design. See what it cannot do.
